WALKING TOURS IN SÃO MIGUEL & TERCEIRA

Arrival at Ponta Delgada airport, assistance by our guide and transfer to the hotel. Welcome dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Full Day City Tour/ Rocha da Relva Trail

Breakfast at the hotel. The first day on the island of São Miguel will start with a City Tour in the main city, Ponta Delgada, where you can visit some of the main points, such as the Portas da Cidade, the Church of São Sebastião, a small market, the possibility to visit Jardim António Borges, a botanical garde with hundreds of exotic species. After visiting the city, we will have a free time for lunch. In the afternoon we will go to Rocha da Relva Trail, where we can visit one of the island's detrimental fajãs and appreciate the few local houses and vineyards. This route has a length of 5 km, an average duration of 3 hours and moderate level. To complete this day in the best way, we will visit Quinta do Agricultor who recalls the old customs of country life in São Miguel, providing an old-fashioned dinner with typical and regional products, by candlelight. Return to the hotel at the end of the day. Accommodation.

Full Day Sete Cidades

Breakfast at the hotel. This day will begin with a trail at Lagoa das Empadadas, heading towards Serra Devassa. Along the way it will be possible to appreciate other lagoons, such as Lagoa Rasa and Lagoa das Éguas, as well as the Nove Janelas aqueduct. This trail is connected to the viewpoint of Grota do Inferno, where we will stop, and then the Cumeeira Grande Trail begins. This stretches along the path around the top of the Caldeira das Sete Cidades. Here, we can observe four lagoons: Santiago, Rasa, Azul and Verde. The main ones, the Azul and Verde lagoon, were considered one of the 7 wonders of Portugal and on certain days, these colours are visible. This entire journey will take approximately four hours followed by a pic-nic lunch (included), taking place during the Cumeeira Grande Trail, where you can enjoy the incredible landscape of the interior of the caldera, and nice views of the Atlantic Ocean. After lunch, the descent to Mosteiros begins, in the direction the ​​natural pools. Along the way we can see the islets of Mosteiros, formed by underwater volcanoes and at the end of the route you will have the chance to swim in the sea. Return to hotel to accommodation.

Full Day Furnas

Breakfast at the hotel. The day begins with a short walk to Lagoa do Congro, a pleasant area for a morning trail. We will continue to the Pico do Ferro Viewpoint, which will not only be the beginning of the next trail,but will also be a good point to watch the interior of the Caldeira das Furnas. This route ends in the area where the typical Cozido das Furnas are cooked, on underground in a fumarole for approximately 7 hours. In order to enjoy the best that the Furnas has to offer, we will visit the Terra Nostra Botanical Garden which not only contains plants from all the world, but also includes thermal water pools that vary between 36 and the 39 degrees Celsius. After the discovery of this garden and the possibility of bathing, we continue for lunch where we can experience the famous and typical Cozido das Furnas stew (included). In the afternoon, we walk from the restaurant to the Caldeiras das Furnas area. The largest fumarolic field on the island is observed and we can taste different spring waters. We will finish in a small trail along the Gorreana Tea Factory, the oldest and most emblematic on the island. Return to hotel to accommodation.

Transfer to Airport and Fligth to Terceira Island + Baias de Agualva Trail

After breakfast in the hotel, we will be transferred to the Ponta Delgada Airport, in order to get the flight connection toward Terceira island. Transfer to the hotel and some free time to lunch. In the afternoon we will explore the north coast of Terceira Island on a hike along the path of the Bays of Agualva. During this walk we can enjoy and appreciate the various bays on the north coast of the island, cliffs carved by the force of nature, walk on lava flows associated with eruptions that formed the island, and be enchanted by the combination of volcanoes and the ocean. This hike will take approximately 5 kilometres long, and will take approximated 3 hours in a easy / moderate degree of difficulty. Transfer to our place of accommodation.

Full Day Rocha do Chambre Trail

Breakfast at the hotel. On this day we will explore the island of Terceira through a walking tour along the Rocha do Chambre trail. This trail in the centre of the island, offer us the opportunity to appreciate the volcanic landscape, as well the respective endemic vegetation, and riverside landscape. The degree of difficulty is moderate, in a circular trail, with 9 kilometres long and an average duration of 5 hours. Some highlights of this tour are endemic vegetation, amazing views of the crater, the Biscoitos - a treasure in the north of the island, amazing volcanic phenomena, and some riverside landscapes, resulting in a memorable scenario. Pic nic lunch included. Accommodation at the hotel.

Mistérios Negros Trail + Algar do Carvão & Biscoitos

Breakfast at the hotel. On this day, in the morning, we will uncover the secrets of Terceira, on a walk inside the island by the trail of the Mistérios Negros (Black Mysteries). While walking along the trail, we can enjoy the volcanic landscape, and be enchanted by the beauty of the various existing lagoons, which make the tour even more special and unique. This trail is approximately 5 kilometres long, and an average duration of 3 hours, with moderate/difficult degree of difficulty. After a pic-nic lunch (included) we will be heading to the interior of Terceira island and the north coast. Be enchanted by the natural wonders of the island, namely: an ancient volcano considered one of the most precious natural monuments in the Azores, the Algar do Carvão, fumaroles surrounded by endemic vegetation, natural pools formed by lava flows, unique vineyards fields, and local artisanal cheese tasting. An opportunity to discover some of the breath-taking traditions, cultures and landscapes. Farewell dinner and Accommodation at the hotel.
